diptychs (outer and inner head series)

INTERACTIVE VISUAL ELEMENT - Painting as a collaboration with the viewer's neurology.

My diptych paintings explore both the visual perception of color and the psycho-physiological experience of seeing an after-image. I use tangible acrylic paint and rely on the intangible colors generated by the neurology of the viewer to complete the paintings.

If the viewer stares fixedly at the center of the left panel for about twenty seconds, and then transfers gaze to the center of the right panel, an after-image will appear in the complementary colors.
